Should Vulcan Redtooth A fail in their quest to win the Division One title, their consolation prize as runners up is guaranteed following two huge wins over Abbeydale B and Crookes B, which have increased their points total by eighteen. Team captain Mark Short took two hat tricks and in so doing, enters the record books as the only player to win the Division One leading scorer’s trophy on four occasions. Richard Wesley took a maximum against Abbeydale and Matt Dodds, the recently crowned Sheffield singles champion, also took a hat trick against Crookes.
Success continued for Redtooth A as they knocked out Stocksbridge A the nine times winners of the three a side cup at the semi final stage. Matt Kenny notched a hat trick for Stocksbridge but Matt Dodds, Mark Short and Richard Wesley managed to ease Vulcan over the line, 5-4.
In Division Four, MBE the favourites for the title, statistically wrapped up promotion having reached 197 points with an 8-2 win at third placed Abbeydale E. Mick Jarvis notched a maximum and both Steve Needham and Phil Walton weighed in with braces. Second placed Albert Premier A also ensured a place in Division Three next term with a 7-3 victory over fourth placed Dronfield B. Shaun Alvey took the accolades with a hat trick and a win in the doubles with Richard Element. Roger Bannister beat Josette Ryalls and Element went on to take a brace.
