Mark Croggon’s hat trick and doubles win with Gary Rains gave Shiregreen C’s relegation battle a boost, as they took seven points from an encounter with struggling Cable B. Rains ended the match with a brace and John Jenkinson accounted for Calvin Clarke. The three points mustered by Clarke, Brian Armitage and Roger Morley give Cable a four point advantage over Crookes E, who have two games in hand over their rivals. With Telecom A looking favourites for the drop from Division Three, a tight contest has developed between six teams who are separated by a mere fourteen points.
In Division Six, Harry Roberts 39/46 maintained his position as leading scorer and continued his rich vein of form with a hat trick for Shiregreen E during a visit to Hallam Grange E. Shiregreen are four points clear of third placed Yorkshire Water in the battle for promotion, thanks to a further contribution from David Read who scored twice and teamed up with Roberts to win the doubles. Roger Arkell featured for the hosts with wins over Read and Frank Brailsford as Hallam took three points from the encounter.
